Judith T. Broder, M.D., Director

Judith Broder, M.D. is Founder of The Soldiers Project.  She completed her medical training at University of Chicago School of medicine and is a retired psychiatrist and training and supervising analyst at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, where she served as Chair of the Faculty Committee.  She has taught and supervised extensively, including  psychiatric residents at UCLA, and has served as Chairperson of the Education Committee and Dean of the Psychoanalytic Center of California.

Barbara Schochet, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice. She received her BA from the University of Minnesota and her Ph.D. from UCLA.  She has had a long-term interest in bringing psychology to the community. Her doctoral dissertation research on adolescents with diabetes led to a ten-year involvement with the board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Diabetes Association where she served as the President. She has been an active volunteer for The Soldiers Project since 2006.  She has participated extensively in community outreach activities.  She has organized and taught educational seminars for prospective volunteer therapists, and is devoted to furthering the goals of The Soldiers Project.

Carol Tanenbaum, Ph.D, MFT is chair of the Ernest S. Lawrence Trauma Center of The Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. She served on the board of Global Children's Organization from 1996-2009.  Carol is adjunct faculty member at Pacifica Institute in Carpenteria, CA.  Carol is a psychoanalyst and marriage family therapist with a private practice in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Shawn M. Domzalski is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, (333 South Grand Ave, LA 90071) practicing in the Corporate Department. He worked in translation (Chinese to English) in Taipei, Taiwan, received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Washington University, then earned his law degree magna cum laude in 2006 from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. He applies his wide range of skills to supporting groups that provide services for returning veterans and their families.

Donald Gustavson is a California C.P.A., small business owner, and a veteran. After serving from 1968 through 1970 in the US Army, Don completed college on the GI bill and worked full time in public accounting until 1988. He then went into business and currently owns a small business in Los Angeles. Don was President of the Board of Valley Home for Women, Inc. from 1988 until 1992 and has volunteered in various capacities with organizations targeting alcoholism and addiction, elementary and secondary education, and elder services.

Sister Nancy DeCesare, Ph.D., IHM, is an Associate Professor of Human Services and chair of the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at Chestnut Hill College (9601 Germantown Ave) in Philadelphia (PA 19118).
