Chicago-Training on “Women in the Military”

January 31 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Presenters: Jenny Garretson, LCSW, Women Veterans Program Manager, Jesse Brown VA; and Iris Madelyn, USMC, Veteran Community Liaison at the National Veterans Art Museum, Program Manager/Veterans’ Relations Coordinator at Albany Park Community Center.

Description: Women have been making up an increasing portion of the military and taking on a growing array of occupations within the military. Today, roughly 15% of all active duty military and more than 1.8 million veterans are women. Working with veterans and service members means being attuned to the unique set of experiences and issues women in the military face. This training will survey these experiences and issues from the perspectives of the Women Veterans Program Manager at Jesse Brown VA and a Marine and active member of the veteran service community in Chicago.

Our trainings are free for all attendees. Also, we provide 3 CEUs per training. CEUs are $10.

Please RSVP for trainings with Chris Poulos (cpoulos@thesoldiersproject.org). For those seeking CEUs, e-mail your RSVP along with your license number.
